Regular sessions: First and third Tuesdays of each month, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Common court needs

  • Interpreter or ADA accommodation

The Court provides an interpreter at no cost for a defendant or witness who needs one, and provides reasonable ADA accommodations for court events at no cost. Contact the Court as early as possible to request help.

  • Public defender application

You may qualify based on the charge and financial eligibility. Request the application from the Court. The judge decides eligibility and appointment. The Borough Code provides for an application fee of up to $200. The judge may waive all or part of the fee if it would be an unreasonable burden.

  • Payment difficulty

If you cannot pay a court-ordered amount or keep an installment schedule, contact the Court. You may be eligible for a payment plan change or other relief from the judge.

  • Court records and discovery

Municipal Court records are governed by New Jersey Court Rule 1:38. Request records from the Court or through JEDS. A defendant's discovery request is governed by Rule 7:7-7 and must be served on the Municipal Prosecutor; JEDS does not accept evidence or discovery.

Appeals: A Municipal Court appeal generally must be filed within 20 calendar days of conviction. Review the official NJ Courts appeal guidance promptly. Contacting the Municipal Court does not file an appeal or extend the deadline.

What court staff can do: Staff can explain procedures and provide available forms, but cannot give legal advice, predict an outcome or communicate privately with the judge for you about your case.
